Contemporary design methods and digital tools allow for the overall, decentralized, and distributed creation of building solutions and for detailing, evaluating and implementation of design ideas.

The module “Integrated Building Design” focuses on the Integration of Design and interdisciplinary work of planning teams. Based on gestalt, function and structure from the idea to the design of details a integrated building and planning model will be developed. Challenging and up to date

architectural design assignments form the focus of this module.

KEYWORDS:

• architectural design

• building information model

• multi disciplinary

• participatory design

• interactive design

• shared projects

• virtual/digital architectural design

• design decision support system

• making design decisions plausible

KEY QUESTION:

Ho do design intentions integrate in the multidisciplinary work flow?

How to integrate the intentions of shape, function and structure in the architectural

design process?

How could we (re) define the role of the architect today?

Design methods – Changed by computers or are they still the same?

Which ways of working with the computer are acceptable?
