Consortium of Universities and Schools META-U is an exchange program for master students in Architecture and Urbanism, set up by several partner universities in Europe. The idea is to form consortia. In a consortium universities and schools exchange students and staff. They can pool their expertise and develop frameworks for joint programs and degrees.
META-morphosis Universities are in permanent change. Meta University is an experimental concept to contribute to the university of the future. According to Burton A. Clark in general three stages of development in the university in the post-war period can be distinguished: - The university of professors ruled by the senate - The University of participation of students and staff - The Management University with a strong emphasis on output, an ‘excel-university instead of á university of excellence. Meta University is a next stage that unites the best elements of the three types of universities especially to prepare the university for Europanistion and Globalisation. Network of networks The consortia of universities and schools are networks. Meta University is a network university.. It is a network of networks. Next to the network of the Socrates Development program, the following networks were funded by EU: EU-US Joint Master and exchange program of Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (lead), Sint Lucas Architectuur and University of Strathclyde (EU) and University of Cincinatti, University of Michigan and North Carolina State University (US) EU LA Program for a new intercultural Latin-American – European Architect (ALFA-project): Sint Lucas Architectuur (lead) Technische Universiteit Eindhoven, University of Strathclyde, University of Sevilla (EU) and Universidad de Belgrano, Buenos Airos, (Arg), Universidade Federal, Rio de Janeiro (Bra), Instituto Superior Politechnica Ha Habana (Cuba), Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, Santiago de Chile (Chi). In the first stage of Meta University Eindhoven, Brussels-Ghent and Strathclyde figured as core group and participated in all the networks. At this moment META-University does not have an ASIA-link, although some partners participate in ASIA-networks, including the University of Strathclyde and the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven.. Meta University as a network of networks makes it possible that the coordination of different networks can be distributed among partners. |
